Our Wedding Day
We were very lucky and the weather was fantastic all day!
The Ceremony
Our wedding ceremony was held at Holt Castle (Holt Heath, Worcestershire). We had two readings by our lovely friend Tim Burdon and Ben Parker and most of the music was orchestral versions of computer game themes.
The Reception
Our reception was held at Alex’s parents’ house near Sinton Green, Worcestershire. We had awesome Big Hat Tipis in the garden, set out with picnic benches.
When everyone arrived they were greeted with cocktails (gin, elderflower, apple and raspberry juice, topped with lemonade) and canapés. For the excellent speeches by Kim’s dad and the best men we drank Scottish elderflower and oak sparkling wine. We presented our parents with fruit trees as a thank you for all their hard work.
After enjoying the sunshine in Tina and Michael’s beautiful garden for a while we all moved to the Tipi to eat. We were served picnic themed platters at each table (luxury pork pie, quails eggs, mackerel pate, asparagus etc.) followed by chocolate brownies, meringues and fresh strawberries.
We had French red and white wine as well as local ales, ginger beer and Victorian style lemonade.
The band played “Dream Catch Me” by Newton Faulkner for our first dance and then really kicked off the party with with a brilliant set including everything from Bryan Adams to The Killers. Later in the evening we cut our wedding cheese tower and this was laid out with crackers and port for everyone to help themselves to.
Most guests chose to camp over with some opting for glamping (glamorous camping) in luxury bell tents. This meant the party could continue into the night. The most determined party animals continued dancing until around 4:30am!
In the morning guests joined us for a breakfast of bacon butties before heading home.
